Isle of Man Government Backs iGaming

SiGMA World has published a thoughtful piece examining the Isle of Man’s iGaming regulatory environment, following the Island’s public reaffirmation of political support for the sector.
The article explores how mature jurisdictions move beyond headline compliance and political signalling, placing increasing emphasis on how governance, risk management and safer-gambling controls operate in practice — and how confidently those controls can be evidenced.
I was pleased to contribute commentary to the piece, particularly around the role of outcomes-focused regulation and the growing importance of independent assurance in sustaining regulatory credibility and long-term market confidence.
In established gambling jurisdictions, stability is not built on policy statements alone. Confidence is increasingly earned through demonstrable effectiveness, boards understanding their risks, regulators gaining assurance that controls work as intended, and consumers being protected in measurable, real-world ways.
