Meet the team: Gaming Specialist James O’Kelly

James O’Kelly is the newest member of the SolutionsHub team, joining us as Gaming Specialist. Here’s a little more about James….

What attracted you to the role and what are you looking forward to about it?

SolutionsHub work with some of the most interesting and innovative businesses in the world and the directors’ passion for finding solutions to help clients is infectious.

I am looking forward to helping SolutionsHub and our clients grow and succeed, especially in esports.

The rapid growth and enormous potential of esports is well documented and, during the global pandemic, is one of the few industries to see an uptick in numbers.

It’s a hugely exciting time for the industry and I’m looking forward to helping SolutionsHub ensue the Isle of Man becomes an attractive proposition for esports businesses.

Can you tell us about your career so far?

After finishing school, I worked for a corporate services provider called Acclaim Limited for about 12 months before moving to RL360. There, I worked for more than three years, first as a premiums administrator before working my way up to a senior within 12 months.

One of my main jobs while working in premiums at RL360 was supporting our regional offices and sales teams all over the world in South Africa, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Dubai, Uruguay and Lebanon.

RL360 was a great place to work and the people there are fantastic, but the opportunity to progress my career in innovative, burgeoning sectors led me to make the move to SolutionsHub.

Can you tell us a bit about your home life?

I live at home with my mum and step dad and we have two border terriers called Frank and Desmond.

I was born in the Isle of Man and have lived in Douglas and Onchan all my life. Living in Douglas, we live on one of the most popular spots off the course for the Isle of Man TT, one of the most famous road races in the world.

We have people from all over the world coming to our house to watch the racing. Each year we will put on tea, coffee and have cakes for visitors to raise money for a different Manx charity each year.

Away from work, what do you like to do?

I’m a big football fan. I support Chelsea and play centre midfield for Onchan AFC in the Isle of Man.

I have played for Onchan for the past five years as well as being on the club committee for the past three years.

As well as playing for Onchan, I have also coached junior and senior teams for around four years, coaching kids from under-10s up to adults and obtaining FA standard coaching qualifications during that time. In fact, I became one of the youngest people on the Island to obtain a Level 1 FA qualification when I was 16.

I enjoy going on holiday when I can, going to many different places in Europe, with plans to visit countries outside of Europe in the future.

I also enjoy listening to music and cooking and going to the gym.

Can you tell us something about you that not many people know?

I’m pretty handy at FIFA and I’m pretty highly ranked on Division Rivals, the game’s competitive online league.

How we can help The experienced team at SolutionsHub have a proven track record of working closely with Isle of Man regulators to help our clients acquire the variety of top-tier gambling licences available on the island. To find out how we can help your business, get in touch.
